How to Make Holidays in Zakynthos More Enjoyable for Your Child

Travelling can be a challenge both for parents and for children. That’s why it’s worth knowing how to simplify your holiday and make it more enjoyable for your little one. Who knows maybe this is how a real traveller is born
For years, we’ve been welcoming families with children on our tours, and we always ask parents for their best tips for travelling with kids. Here are some of the most important ones we’ve heard:
- Bring a light stroller or a baby carrier (heavy prams don’t work well and only make getting around more difficult),
- Equip your child with mosquito-repellent wristbands or other proven repellents (mosquitoes can bite a lot, especially at night),
- Pack light-coloured hats, preferably with a brim or visor (sunscreen alone may not be enough for delicate skin, and a visor is useful if your child doesn’t like wearing sunglasses),
- Don’t forget to bring trusted remedies for stomach aches and indigestion, such as Espumisan or Smecta (Greek food is different and a small tummy may need time to adjust),
- Take favourite toys, beach buckets and moulds, water guns, colouring books and crayons,
- Be sure to buy UV 50 sunscreen from a trusted brand (ideally from a pharmacy), especially between June and August,
- You may also want to bring your child’s favourite herbal tea (the selection of teas in Greece is limited and there are no anti-colic teas),
- Water shoes or beach shoes can be very useful preferably fabric ones with a rubber sole rather than fully plastic (the sand can get extremely hot and it’s better to protect little feet),
- Once there, consider getting a beach umbrella, as many beaches have no natural shade or sunbeds,
- Anti–motion sickness lollipops are a great solution for children who struggle during coach or minibus rides (e.g. ginger-based ones),
- And most importantly – relax. Zakynthos is not the end of the world, and your little one will handle holidays better than you think.
Thanks to valuable feedback we receive every year from parents travelling with children, we’ve created an offer tailored to our youngest guests. Our tours are exactly how kids like them best, fun and short. Little travellers cope brilliantly and come back happy and full of energy.
Meanwhile, parents get to see the island’s top attractions and truly relax thanks to a well-planned itinerary.
Tours we especially recommend for families with children:
- Thats All, Folks
- All You Need Is Beach
On these two tours, children are exceptionally relaxed and parents don’t keep checking the time.
There is always time for beach fun, snack breaks and getting changed if needed.
